Running Start Program
About the program
Running Start allows highly-qualified high school juniors to earn a high school diploma from their local high school or homeschool while simultaneously earning a transfer degree from Southwestern Illinois College. While courses are offered at all Southwestern Illinois College campuses (Belleville, Sam Wolf Granite City, and Red Bud), specific programs and courses may be available only at the Belleville Campus.

- First graduates in the Class of 2017
- 36 students have earned their Associates Degree
- Over 42 additional students earned college credit
- Graduates have attended the following post-secondary schools (not limited to)
- Saint Louis University, Howard University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Arkansas - Pine Bluff, Tennessee State University, Mizzou, Fisk, Harris-Stowe University, Southern Illinois University - Carbondale & Edwardsville, Western Illinois University, Kentucky State University, and Jackson State University.
